Candelilla Wax Light

Candelilla Light is 100% vegetal wax processed through additional filtering and bleaching. Like carnauba wax, candelilla is highly recognized for its high hardness with resistance to wear and tear, but unlike carnauba, due to the high content of hydrocarbons and natural resins that it contains, candelilla wax distinguishes with aditional water repellency and moisture barrier properties, excellent adhesiveness and good flexibility,  Can be applied pure or as an enhancer and formula improver for cosmetic use, leather finishing, wood and furniture finishes, varnishes etc.
Soluble in oils, resins, alcohol, acetone, turpentine, aromatic solvents and long list of organic solvents.

Candelila wax, Carnauba wax and Beeswax recipe

It can be applied directly on wood or on oil, shellac or varnish finish.

Ingredients :

Carnauba Wax : 25 g

Candelilla Wax : 25 g

Bleached Beeswax : 100 g (can also be replaced with 100 g of Microcrystalline Wax)

Double Boiled Linseed Oil : 25 ml

Odorless Thinner : 700 ml

Citrus Solvent : 75 ml

In a metallic container, warm the thinner and the solvent in a Bain-Marie. Add the three waxes and let melt. Add the Linseed Oil and mix well. The use of more or less of thinner will soften the wax and facilitate the application. Once all the ingredients are entirely dissolved, pour into a container and cool down. Using the Odorless Thinner and the Citrus Solvent will create an almost odorless wax, leaving you with a slight citrus odor.

Apply using a polishing cotton in very thin layer. Let dry for 12 to 24 hours and polish up using a polishing brush. This wax is more resistant to water and less fragile than the commercial waxes. For maintenance, apply a thin coat of wax and let dry for 12 to 24 hours. Then polish using a brush or a wool rag.

Carnauba is very versatile and known as "Queen of Waxes". Used in wide range of applications and products most known: shoe, floor and automotive industry polish and protectors, cosmetics, farmacy and it is an indispensable component in food industry to development of ´water based´ or emulsified waxes for fruit waxing (apples, citrus, cucumbers, bananas and others) in post-harvest treatments to prolong their lives and maintain their appearance and freshness, due it reduces transpiration and thus inhibits certain degree dehydration while helping preserve of bacterial and fungal diseases and maintains the natural shine of the fruit.

Micronized Polyethylene (PE) Wax

Polyethylene wax with drop melting point 130ºC is extremely hard and must be diluted or prediluted in 100% aromatic solvent (xylene, shellsol A, etc.) at least 25 minutes in a water bath
Pure polyethylene wax increses abrasion resistance and used as dry lubricant. Blended with other waxes provide a non-sticky finish and improves wearing, scratch and impact resistance.

Component of Renaissance Wax

We suggest proportion of 100-200gr of wax or wax blend to 1 liter of solvent. One version of the formulation can be found in the Materials for Conservation: Organic Consolidants, Adhesives and Coatings book

Pure Tung Oil PROMO

15.85 €

Tung Oil (wood oil) is superior hard oil to care and protect unfinished and bare woods

• 100% natural, environmentally friendly and ideal for use on food contact objects
• Nourishes, harden and waterproofs allowing to breathe, protect from mold and fungi
• Natural matte-satin finish resistant to heat, water, alcohol, acids and alkalis
• Does not significantly change the original color of the wood and will not darken with time
• Adds depth to woodgrain, producing beautiful antique-style finish
• Mix 50:50 of Tung Oil with boiled linseed results in a satin-gloss finish
• Drying oil, polymerizes (hardens) by auto-oxidation upon exposure to air
• Added as hardener, "improver" and Bio drier for linseed oil, teak oil etc.
• Color can be changed by adding Art & Restoration pigments and other colorants
• Durable hard and flexible finishing, applicable for indoor and outdoor
• Protects wood from corrosion caused by water; used for centuries as waterproof finish for boats and other wooden objects, suitable for permanent contact with freshwater and seawater
• Perfect for waterproofing stone, concrete and cement
• Cures faster in warm environments

Pure tung oil is thick, high solid content dark amber-yellow oil with an characteristic mild odor; it can be applied pure or diluted; we recommend diluting at least the first and second coats, thinner will make the tung oil easier to apply, faster to dry, and will improve penetration; it depends on the density of the wood, we suggest to thin the oil at 70%, 50% or 30%. E.g. at 50% = 500gr of pure tung oil + 500gr(625ml) of white spirit, non-toxic turpentine and limonene

Caution in applying: direct sunlight can cause spontaneous polymerization and an "frost" effect

Tung oil is effective sealing waterproofing agent for paper, fabric (oil-cloth), stone and plasters.
It is a Bio replacement for polyurethanes and other potentially dangerous sealants / varnishes.

Easy application and maintenance for all indoor and outdoor projects
Yield (diluted) 1L = 15M2  From 2 to 6 coats  Polymerization = 4 days   Cure = 15 days
